A gynaecological laparoscopy is a procedure where your surgeon uses a camera (laparoscope) to see inside your lower abdomen (tummy). This means they will be able to see your uterus (womb), fallopian tubes and ovaries. They will also be able to see other parts of your body, such as your bladder and bowel.
Gynaecological laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to examine the internal reproductive organs using a thin instrument called a laparoscope, equipped with a small camera. The procedure helps visualize the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, as well as nearby organs such as the bladder and bowel. It is commonly used to diagnose and treat various gynaecological conditions, including endometriosis, ovarian cysts, pelvic pain, and fertility-related problems. Compared with traditional open surgery, laparoscopy generally involves smaller incisions, less postoperative discomfort, and a quicker recovery.
